Skin disease
Tinea (ringworm)
Infections caused by dermatophyte fungi — of the skin, hands, feet ("athlete's foot"), nails or scalp, the latter typical in children and potentially scarring.
Mycological testing confirms the diagnosis; treatment differs according to the site, and for the scalp it is always oral.
