Hair loss in well-defined round patches, with an autoimmune cause — the immune system attacks the hair follicles. It can affect the scalp, the beard or other hair-bearing areas, and how it progresses varies greatly from person to person.

It is not contagious. Dermatological follow-up allows us to confirm the diagnosis, rule out other causes and decide on the right treatment for each stage.
