Seborrhoeic keratosis

A very common benign lesion from middle age onwards: a brown plaque that looks "stuck on" to the skin, with a dull surface — there is the common form and an irritated variant, which is more inflamed.

It is not cancer and does not turn into cancer; it can be removed by curettage or cryotherapy if it becomes bothersome. Pigmented lesions that raise doubts are confirmed by dermoscopy.
