Pyoderma gangrenosum
A painful, rapidly growing ulcer with a violaceous border, caused by an autoinflammatory mechanism — it is associated with bowel and blood disorders.
It is not an infection: treatment is with immunosuppressants, and debridement makes it worse. A dermatological diagnosis makes all the difference.
