Atypical (dysplastic) naevus

A mole with dermoscopic features outside the usual pattern — junctional or compound, with atypia — which requires careful distinction from melanoma.

Dermoscopy and, when in doubt, excision with analysis give the definitive answer. People with multiple atypical naevi benefit from regular monitoring.
