Skin disease
Fungal infections / Onychomycosis
Fungal infections of the skin (tinea) or of the nails (onychomycosis). In the nails they cause thickening, lifting of the nail and colour change; on the skin, scaly patches with an active border.
Correct treatment depends on confirming the fungus — not every abnormal nail is a fungal infection — and may be lengthy, especially in the toenails.
