Hidradenitis suppurativa
A chronic inflammatory disease of the hair follicles in skin folds — armpits, groin, buttocks — with painful lumps, abscesses and tunnels that recur in the same place.
It is not a matter of poor hygiene, nor a run of «bad luck with boils»: it has its own diagnosis and treatment, both medical and surgical, and the earlier it is treated the fewer scars it leaves.
