Allergic contact eczema
A skin reaction to a specific substance to which the person has become sensitised — nickel in costume jewellery, fragrances, preservatives, hair dyes, among many others. Redness, itching and small blisters appear at the site of contact.
Patch testing allows the responsible substance to be identified, and avoiding it is the most important part of treatment.
