Skin disease
Atopic dermatitis / eczema («atopic skin»)
A chronic inflammatory skin disease, very common in children but also present in adults. The skin becomes dry, with intense itching and flare-ups of eczema, particularly in the creases of the arms and legs.
Treatment is based on daily moisturising care and medication during flare-ups; moderate to severe cases now have very effective treatment options. Regular follow-up prevents the itch-scratch-worsen cycle.
