Matricectomy (partial and total)
The definitive treatment for recurrent ingrowing toenails: the portion of the nail matrix responsible for the ingrowing nail fragment is removed (partial), or the whole matrix is removed (total) in selected cases.
Carried out under local anaesthetic to the toe, it resolves the problem at its source rather than repeatedly treating the inflammation.
