Skin biopsy
Removal of a small fragment of skin, under local anaesthetic, for examination under the microscope. It is the test that confirms the diagnosis when clinical examination leaves doubts.
It is a quick procedure, carried out in the clinic, usually with one or two stitches — the result guides treatment safely.
